Van Gogh Goes Interactive

I was browsing through some amazing videos on Vimeo the other day when I came across this stunning piece of interactive art by a man called Petros Vrellis.

He’s taken the beautiful piece of art called Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh and turned it into an interactive animation.

In making it he tried to visualize the flow of the famous painting whilst allowing the user to interact with the animation. He also created some beautiful sounds to go with the visuals that also respond to the flow. This truly is a work of art.

What I love about this piece of work is the way the soft sounds marry together with the visual flow to draw you into the painting. It feels at times that the paining comes to life in front of your eyes, suspending your belief that this is just a painting.

I’m sure you’ll agree this is a stunning piece of work by a very tallented man. I can’t wait to see more from him.
